Practically every minority tells me that they are aware of their skin color...but that is because we are in a white dominated society. So white people, are you always aware of your color, or only in the presence of minorities?

I feel like there's something wrong with me all the time, but probably not due to my whiteness. When the cashier at the store doesn't greet me, that just rubs me the wrong way til Sunday! I'd just assume live alone in the woods. Though I bought a white car because I like being white and I think people should stop acting like being a poor (whether ghetto or hillbilly), drug addict, drunk, or a criminal is an acceptable lifestyle. Instead of going to clubs, hooking up, and drinking your pain away, you should confront those who've hurt you and learn to love yourself, no matter what color you are. Only then can you begin to follow your passions in life freely. Stop thinking about what people have done to you and start thinking about what you want today out of your life.

Interesting question. I am white, but slightly darker toned (Portuguese and French Canadian Background). I must admit, at times when I am in an entirely blond haired, blue-eyed situation, I can be kind of self conscious.

By the same token, I am very aware when I am the only white person in a group that is black or Arabic (I have been in both situations recently).

Strange, isn't it.

Whenever someone is a minority in any aspect they are going to be aware of it. I'm white but if I was the only white one in a crowd I'd be more aware of it. You stand out if you don't match your surroundings. Not that that's a bad thing.

Hey I live in California,I am the only white person on my block.1 of about 30 white people in a church of 2000.White people only make up 7% of the worlds population.
I am very aware of it ,when I see people with Brown power or black power on their t-shirts or bumper. My grandson is the only blue eyed blond in the 1st. grade at his school.
I think people who get caught up in color, need to seek God.
My home looks like the League of Nations when we have a party.<><

I'm white, and only think about it when I am in the sun, or surrounded by darker skin colors. I usually judge others by the way they behave. If they act like trash, they loose my respect no matter what color they are.

well, if i'm showing skin i'm usually aware of how freaking pale i am. but most of the time, unless i'm in the minority, i am not aware of my skin color specifically.

definitely not, unless i am in the minority. I think most whites are the same. So at least we are able to put ourselves in minorities shoes, even though we usually don't.
