I have this same problem and I was on Depo for 5 years, my last shot being in Sept of 05. I recently went through an LPN program, and now investigate things that have to do with my health. My spouse and I have read many different stories posted on the internet by people and by reputable companies about depo. There are many side effects to depo that they almost never tell anyone. Yes, it could just be that the shot hasn't fully left your system yet. Id give it another 6 months tops of trying before going to see a Dr. If you are serious about wanting to hurry things along, schedule an appt sooner. You should know that there is a controversy surrounding the depo shot and how it was used-there are political reasons behind who they targeted the shot to (having to do with economic class) the most. according to some. The most scary side effect I have read of thus far is lack of return to fertility. Your ovaries can just fail to work appropriately again, or you can essentially develope endometriosis since one of the ways depo works is by thickening the lining of the uterus, making it much more difficult for the egg to implant in the uterus. You should read up. There is a class action lawsuit in place agaist the pharmacutical co, though I dont know if anyone will get monetary compensation, as it would be hard to prove their problems stem from depo. I am not yet a part of that lawsuit-and have not really considered joining as of yet. I will try to find you some links.

The last birth control I was on was depo and that was way back in 1999. I didn't get pregnant until 2004. Of course being on the shot caused me to have only four periods a year which is why I started on birth control in the first place (lack of period). Depo was the biggest mistake I made in my sexual feminine health since it really screwed me up. If it hasn't screwed you up then you should be okay to get preggers in a short while, it is only suppose to take about a year but it might take longer. Good luck and baby thoughts to you.

The Depo shot can make it hard to get preggers for a LONG time! Three of my friends were on it, and went off, then had to try for almost two years each! However, if you aren't trying and you just went off the shot, you will probably get preggers right away. I know two girls that this happened to. Murphy's Law, gets you every time.

Yes, the Depo shot can take up to a year to get your body back in the normal swing of things, if it has been more than a year, I would go into your doctor and just have them check you out.

Yes it will have some affect, but it will affect people in different ways, some people will fall as early as a month from going off it & others will have a wait on there hands. I belive you should give yourself a deadline, try for it to naturally happen, if you dont succed in that timeframe then go to your doctor & discuss further options or planning. Dont stress about it in the mean time as that may have some affect on your body concieving! good luck!

I too have had this injection and was told that it could take up to 18 months to fall pregnant after you have stopped with the injections. This information came from my doctor.
