Didn't white people start racism ? Didn't they start this hatred on race ? I know all white people are'nt racist but deep down inside do they feel the same way their ancestors did ? I'm not racist but I find myself getting angry with whites after watching movies like " Rosewood" or "Mississippi Burning" or documentaries on the KKK.
I'm like what did we do to deserve that type of gruesome treatment ?

there are three ways to spot a bad white person,

1. he/she is wearing a bed sheet over their head

2. he/she is holding a burning cross

3. he/she is a politician

Seriously though, turn the question around and you may find your answer. Namely, How can I (a severely caucasion middle aged man) tell a good black person from a bad black person? If you can answer that, maybe you'll be able to answer your own question.

Whites did not start racism ignorant idiots started racism a long long time ago. Almost every single person there is an ancestor of slaves. Slavery is alot older then what you’re taught in class. Black people are not the only ones that have been slaves. Like I said every race has been subjected to slavery and racism. Your race has nothing to do with how you act or determine things. Well it sort of can because your parents teach you what there parents taught them. But mostly all white people are very nice and not racist. You have to understand that no one means to be mean or evil. It is just how they are taught and if it seems to be socially acceptable. Many kids back in the day were taught that they were superior to the black race. And in a way they sort of were no offence but most slaves were uneducated. Not that it had anything to do with them being black but just the fact that they came from an impoverished country. But then after blacks were freed they became educated. But the notion that whites were superior sadly persisted. But luckily now all races in America have a fair and equal chance. Put all that stuff behind you racism is almost extinct when it comes to whites and blacks in America. But if you want to help out with the cause you should stand up for the Arabs and Hispanics. Who are drawling the most racism and hate at the moment.

First you did nothing to deserve gruesome treatment. White people, it seems have always had some sort of superiority complex. Where that comes from I do not know. Look at what they did to the Africans, the Jews, the American Indians. It's horrible and I not only do not feel like my ancestors did, I am embarassed by their actions.

I grew up in Memphis, TN.....lots of different races there, but primarily black and white. Fifteen yrs ago, I moved to northeastern Washington state....no black people there. I mean NONE. After about a year I had the strangest revelation....I realized that I missed black people and what they add to culture. A bland white bread town isn't for me. Now I live in northern Indiana not far from Chicago...in a Mexican neighborhood. It's very fun and I love my neighbors. I love going to the grocery store and seeing a multitude of colors there. I love when my little 2 yr old daughter has her black friend over to play. They look so beautiful together...2 little girls playing, sharing, hugging....completely unaware of race. I have always loved how my daughter looks at black ppl....with wonder and big smiles. She notices the difference sure, but she enjoys it rather than fears it. I will do anything to keep her that way.

How to tell a true non-racist white from a racist one? Actions and attitudes. However, be careful as white ppl are very good at pretending to be something they are not (as all ppl are I guess). I'm sorry those movies make you feel bad, but not half as sorry I am that your race has suffered the most at the hands of white people. When you feel angry about it....my advice would be not to turn that anger on the whites around you, as they may be wonderful ppl. Let that anger always be a reminder of how much your ancestors suffered to be here and to make you proud of how strong your race is. Let it also make you vigilent to never let it happen again....to any race. Just realize that there are those of us who believe there is only one race...the human one.

Welcome to the "Have the same question" club. Have you watched any of the old westerns where John Wayne kills an entire tribe of Indians with a single shot pistol? Have you watched "Soldier Blue", "Son of Morning Star", heard or read about the Sand Creek Massacre,Trail of Tears, etc. etc.etc. The main "Indian's" that 1st nation people hate are Squanto and Pocahontas. The "rent" is due and our "land allotments" are shrinking, the grass is still green and rivers still flow. And yes, I still feel the same as MY ancestors. Hurt, humiliated, tortured, robbed & forgotten. We were told the only good Indian, was a dead Indian.

Let's see, some American descendents of sub-saharan Africans like to claim to have also built the pyramids and to have in fact been the Egyptians. Also these people like to espouse the belief that slavery and oppression "sprang from the mind of the white man." So would that nulify the biblical story about Hebrew bondage to the Egyptians? I mean you know since blacks didn't concieve slavery, whites were in caves and blah, blah, blah? And since SOME of you black geniuses claim to have been so superior in ancient times while we were mere cave dwellers, doesn't that mean that you were spotted the equivalent of three laps in a mile race and still got lapped by whitey? Cave men came out of the cave and pecker smacked you're entire superior civilization according to that line of thinking. Or is it that you never were that great to begin with. I would prefer to think that my people were primitve but evolving versus having blown the biggest lead in history. But what do I know, I'm just a cave man. Silly moon crickets.

What you have to remember is that those people are dead and gone. So are the ancestors who put slavery into effect. There are still prejudices among all races. You have to take people at face value. Since the beginning of time there have been good and evil people and will continue to be until the end of our time.

Try not to assume that all white people are evil. Yes, there are a lot that are but not all of us are.

No I do not think white people start racism. White people were not the first people on the earth.

Racism comes from hate and fear and the first people to hate fear on the earth would have been Cain and Able.

Hatred on race started when the first two people from different races met. Was one white and the other black? i don't know. I think you can't tell "good" or "bad" white people apart, just like you can't with any other race just based on their appearance. it's their actions and words that do it.

In my case, people used to hear my first name and assume I was Italian. When they started spitting out all kinds of racial stuff about Hispanics, I told them I was Hispanic and they were suddenly very uncomfortable, but it was white and black people that did it. I don't think it the question of who started racism is important. I think the question of how we end it is.

The same way you tell a good PERSON from a bad PERSON.

My rule is "if they smile at you, smile back at them"

I am white and I have no ancestors that participated in slavery or racsim...I am Canadian and they didn't do that there.

You cannot live your life angry over something you cannot control, no one can change the past.

You must create your own change.
