You know the old Mother Goose rhyme.. "hey diddle, diddle, the cat and the fiddle ... ... ... and the cow jumped over the moon..."
Well, that's not exactly the end of that tale.
Seems poor old Bessie swallowed the moon before ultimately
landing in Tennessee.
Being quite full, Bessie immediately dropped a large cow pie.
The moon -- contrary to popular beliefs -- being made of sweet dreams rather than green cheese -- made that a very special cow pie.
A special and particularly pleasing pie... a moon pie.
And that is how the state of Tennessee came to have the Moon Pie as its official state dessert.

There is Native American ledgend that coyote wants to swallow the moon. I believe it brings about the end of the world.

When I was a kid a very long time ago there was a snack called "Moon Pies". We kids ate them and now here we are today answering stupid questions on Yahoo answers.
