Most restaurants and supermarkets have regular suppliers. Before you go into the chicken business, check around and see if there's a market.

If you're planning on raising chicken to sell, you have to have it inspected by the USDA (I'm assuming you're doing this in the US). You can't legally sell meat or poultry that hasn't been inspected.

Go for it! Can you get chickens cheaply? Or raise them? I remember that great scene in Napolean Dynamite, when he has to move all the chickens, and he asks, "Do those chickens have sharp talons?" Remember that Chickens have sharp talons!!!!! That might be a downside. But you could always hire some high school kids for pennies a day to move them for you. If you decide to go this route, keep in mind that you'll probably end up like those farmers in Napolean Dynamite. Oh, another thing, chicken poop makes great fertilizer. Maybe you could dry the poop and sell it to the pot growers. Just a thought.

Maybe in your country, the rules allow this, but in most modern countries, food has to be bought by restaurants, that has been killed and inspected before bieng sold. Standards of cleanliness and refridgeration have to be followed.

So find out the rules first.
