If you have a solid dial-up, you can play some slow pace mmorpgs, some of like Maplestory, Ghost Online, Everquest.

I recommend Ghost Online for the reasons below,
1st. becuz of the client size. Around 150mb, maybe take u 3 or 4 days to download,
2nd. it's 2D scrolled game, low spec can handle it as well.
3rd. You can solo play in game, which means you don't have to team up with others to complete quest.

Game Title: Ghost Online
Genre: Fantasy, Casual
Status: Beta Test
Developer: NNG
Publisher: Mgame
Client size: 147MB

How bout you go out of your way to try a new type of hero, an ANIMAL. The game is called Earth Eternal, it says its a browser game, but its much more like a 3D game and it has a small download at the beginning. You get to choose from alot of different species, such as a cat, wolf, racoon, plenty others. Its an adventure mmorpg, dont think it has pvp yet, so its mostly pve. Last time i played it, like months ago, it was lacking a crafting system since it had just started, it might have one now. It was very fun.

There was and old rpg text based game called federation, i belive it has a fee, but is highly involved and can use dial up for it.

You gotta state your system specs first so we know what kinda game you can acutally play, most minimum system reqs can go alot lower then they say they can.. and the other way around too...

Also I just played WoW and it worked on my crappy computer (integrated gfx card)

You're going to have a hard time with any of them, but I would suggest the low-resolution version of Runescape.
