If the sadness and mood swings don't get you, the cramps and headaches just might. In fact, premenstrual syndrome (PMS) affects almost all women to some degree during their reproductive years.

In 30 percent to 40 percent of cases, symptoms are so severe that they interfere with normal day-to-day functioning. Once passed off as simply an unpleasant-but-inevitable part of being a woman, the symptoms many experience in conjunction with their monthly period are finally being seen as what they are -- signs of a legitimate medical problem.

PMS, a catch-all name for a myriad of physical and psychological symptoms, is thought to be caused by hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle. The exact cause, however, remains a mystery. Symptoms generally strike five-to-10 days before the period and dissipate with its start or soon after. But it's not "all in your head," as you've probably been told. Research has determined that women aren't imagining anything -- and, thankfully, there's help.

What Are the Signs?

Researchers have pinpointed more than 150 PMS symptoms.

Some Common PMS Symptoms

moodiness
depression
abdominal cramping
bloating
food cravings
headaches
muscle aches
breast tenderness
fatigue
acne

So all in all we earn the right to be a little crabby. How about you go through it?

There are a lot of hormonal things going on that cause mood swings. Unfortunately, a lot of girls just use that as an excuse to be a *****. You can feel moody and still not take it out on the rest of the world.

Elevated hormone levels. Leuteinizing Hormone, Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Oestrogen, Progesterone, and small levels of testosterone all go haywire doing different functions simultaneously. The body has to keep up with these time released hormones, but it's stressful. It then causes physical symptoms. Cramps, sweating, bloating, etc. Hope this helps.

I don't act like a ***** when I'm on my period. I don't get grouchy or irritated or anything. It is something that all females go through once a month. I look on the bright side: it'll be over in 2 days.

We become 'moody' during week BEFORE our time of month. When a woman's time of month actually begins...then that 'mood' fades.

The reason a woman gets 'moody' the days BEFORE her time of month is because during that time a very real chemical is released in our system. That chemical makes us ' moody '. We can't help make that chemical not be released in our bodies. That chemical is what signals our bodies to release the tissue and fluids that are not needed during that month because no egg implantation took place...this the sloffing off . . . more commonly known as a period.

And...you know what ? . . . Because we are female and experience periods,,,we are gifted with the experience of pregnancy...feeling a baby move within us and to become mothers...So...nah, nah, nah.

Girls only act like bitches on their period because its a good scapegoat to get what they want. Myself honestly I've never used it to do that. I don't get moody. Its a bad bad excuse to use.

2 of my ex-boyfriend's did not ideas if it replaced into in the route of the top, even as it really is fairly, fairly mild. And if it replaced right into a touch more advantageous than they could take care of, they could courteously tell me, and tried now to not embarrass me. yet another ought to freak out if he said the tiniest little bit of a blood clot (sorry if that grosses everybody out! LOL). It occurred once even as i presumed I nonetheless had yet another few days. He definitely made me experience a touch undesirable about it. i in my opinion do not opt to do it even as it really is that aspect of the month. particular, i'm beautiful as hell, yet A) i do not intend to make a mess (in spite of if the bathe is a sturdy concept... can could do no longer ignore that one...), B) I actually imagine it grosses maximum adult adult males out. i'm fairly smooth even as it includes stuff like that, and that i do not opt to be embarrassed!
