after the media has made black men look so bad in this society how can they now turn around and put one in power. the things SOME whites say about blacks is abominable. also the black men who have chosen themselves to be the voice of black america aren't exactly real presidential material. A black man won't really gain any real power because the people who are in charge are old white men with lots of money. They are in good ole boy clubs that blacks can never join. A darker black man can appear to be threatening because that is what everyone is taught. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were like warts in middle of your forehead to these people. But the economy was good under Clinton and Jimmy Carter was a good fall guy. But trust with this war going on the economy is tanking and rampant white collar crime (white boys who don't rob liquor stores but you, look at Enron and California) you will never see Mr. Obama in office. The black suits will never trust a black man with that much power. Also blacks fear a black man in a office like this because they know he can not do for his people for fear of people (whites) saying he is only allowing certain programs because he is black. Two sided sword. Damned if you do damned if you don't. I don't believe he would be assinated because he would be elected by the popular vote and most Americans will concide that. I would fear that he could never please anyone at all ever. He'd be voted out after his first term.

It would be wonderful to have a black president - especially now when all we have to chose from right now is a Muslim, a Mormon and that Satanic traitorous witch who calls herself a senator from New York.

I remember when I saw the movie DEEP IMPACT in the theater, and I'll never forget how the entire theater went wild with cheers and applause when someone in the movie announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the United States", and in walked Morgan Freeman. Both whites and blacks together were hooting and hollering and high-fiving each other. It was amazing, and I think that in that brief moment we all felt very patriotic, united, and very pleased to see that the president in the moment of world crisis was a black man. But interestingly enough, as the movie progressed and we watched him "save the day", what color he was didn't even come to mind. He was simply the man for the job, and he did it. That's all I ask of my president, regardless of what color he is.

Because America is still afraid of the black man in power, and not just white America, but black America as well and perhaps even more so. White people talk and say that they will vote for a black man as President, but they just say that because it's the public thing to say. We're hoping that changes (maybe even by this upcoming election).

Is being white this kind of undesirable element that you may cover it? i appreciate this remark. it form of feels to me that the people creating a huge deal about him being multiracial are in person-friendly words wearing on the divison between races. Being white, or black, tan, dwindled, isn't something you should could cover. what's God grew to develop into the solar off and we had no flashlights. perchance thats what it will take for some to get over the "race situation" to Meme above: you're proper, if there replaced right into a "white-in person-friendly words" college fund or something else, it will be racist, yet "black-in person-friendly words" is cool. What about my ancestors who were American Indians...they fairly were given the fast end of the stick.

I think Colin Powell and Barack Obama each have the potential to be first. I think other candidates cut their teeth on the civil rights movement. This produced valuable leaders, but leaders whose focus was separate from the notion of mainstream Americans, or "all" Americans. However, now that the civil rights era has become mainstream, black candidates are both freed by it and freed from it.

im voting for obama, if he makes it that far.. but not because he's black

and i think that may be a reason for it.. up until obama, a lot of prominent black leaders tend to be just that, "black leaders." in that, they have worked hard and have been successful in the black community, but not the community as a whole..

and i think that is threatening to white persons.. i think a lot of white people have unnecessarily been made to feel guilty for being white by black leaders whose power came from them using that belief in the black community.

and i think obama is one of the first black leaders i have ever seen that does not play the race card whatsoever.. not that race isnt important, but it shouldnt be when you are running for an office that represents many different races

and the history of oppression against blacks in this country almost certainly has also been a reason

Obama isn't a Muslim he's a Christian but maybe you were referring to someone I'm not aware of. Anyways...

I'm tired of race being an issue it's completely ridiculous to assume race really matters when it comes to intellectual roles. I am so tired of these backwards bigots wanting a black president or a woman president. We should want the best person for the job not someone of a certain race or sex. I would probably vote for Barrack Obama on his domestic policies alone. But I'm not sure if he can really handle foreign relations being so young. But perhaps he will be a great addition to our presidential office.

America is not ready for a president... this country is so prejudice that if a black person was ever elected, the electoral college would reverse it... and if that didn't happen, the would be assassinated... Whenever this country comes together as one... there will be a black president...

There haven't been any viable black candidates. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton don't cut it. Barrack is a different story. I'd choose him over Hillary any day.

We would have already had one if Colin Powell had run. I would have voted for him, he's moderate and sensible, which is why he couldn't take the Bush admin. for long.
