suspension and body lift question?

Question

I was wondering what i would need to do to put bigger tires on my truck(36" or so) but also have clearance from the tire to the well. People have told me that I probably need a 6" Sus. lift and a 3" body lift. Is this true, and if not what will i need?

you need at least 8" of lift, so why not go ahead and get 9"? it will look good
