I'm 19 years old and my period is two weeks late this month. I've taken three different pregnancy tests and they've all been negative, so I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant. Also, my mother had very irregular periods when she was younger (she would go four months w/o having one for no reason). My issue is that...is this normal for my age, after having my period since 8th grade? I was actually starting to get kind of on track with it for once. My mum refuses to take me to the gyno until I'm 21 and I can't go myself without her knowing about it, so is there any other info you know of?

Since you are 19, your mother doesn't have to know that you saw a gyno unless you tel her. Also, you don't even need to see a gyno. You can see just a general medical doctor...maybe you can just tell your mom that you are getting a check up, or come up with some other reason to see a doctor. While you are there, discuss the late period.

If seeing a doctor is not at all an option, I would say not to worry about being 2 weeks late for your period. It is completely normal for a 19yr old woman to miss periods or be late occasionally, and that is one reason why many women in your age range choose to use birth control as a way to regulate their period (Birth control is often prescribed to make your period come at roughly the same time every month).

Ok there could be several reason why you havent had your period, one is being over weight, being too thin, also a hormonal imbalance, it just depends on your body, but you also said your mom wont take you to the gyno until your 21 well hunny i dont know where you live but where im from at the age of 13 any girl can walk into a doctors office and get help and there is nothing there parents can do because of patient doctor confidentiality

It would not be unusual to miss a period or have an occasional late one at your age (or any age.) HAve you lost weight lately or been very active in sports or been sick at all? That can change your cycles. If you are 19 you really should be seeing a gyno regularly, even more so if you are sexually active - your mother is very wrong to forbid it til you are 21 and it is risky to your health to delay having a checkup. Even women your age can develop cancer and other afflictions. If you live in the US the doctors can not, by law, inform your parents since you are an adult. There should be women's clinics you can go to.

Good luck.

You do not need to see a GYN to get checked out. Your regular doc can handle all of your GYN needs unless it is something that he feels needs to be handled by a specialist. You indicate that your periods were not real regular to begin with so I would think that you are just having an irregular month. If you are concerned though just see your regular doc. Also now that you are over the age of 18 you do need to have a yearly pap/pelvic exam so if you have not had one done yet this year then get that done.

It was normal for me at least. My period gets thrown off when I'm under really stressful situations such as family problems or school. Has there been any major changes in your life?

You are over the age of 18. You can go to any OBGYN or any clinic of your choice. She cannot even ask for your record if she did find out you are a legal adult.

It could just be stress. My periods skip around all the time. If you defiantly are not pregnant, then it is probably stress if most of the time it is regular.

MY PERIODS WERE ALWAYS MESSED UP LIKE THAT.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU SHOULD GET BIRTH CONTROL.YOUR MOM WOULD NOT BE HAPPY IF YOU GOT PREGNANT .PROTECT YOURSELF!!
THERE SHOULD BE A FREE CLINIC NEAR YOU WHERE YOU CAN GET ON THE PILL AND THIS WILL HELP WITH YOUR PERIODS.
ALSO REMEMBER ALWAYS USE A CONDOM WITH THE PILL.THE PILL SHOULD STOP YOU FROM BECOMING PREGNANT BUT WON'T STOP STD'S.
