1. Eyelash curlers work best on clean eyelashes. Make sure eyelashes are free of mascara. If necessary, use eye makeup remover to remove old mascara.

2. With your blow dryer on low heat, blow air on the curler for no more than 5 seconds. Touch the metal. If it's hot, let it cool for a few seconds. You don't want to burn your eyelid. Heating it will give you a slightly more "super" curl.

3. Open the curler, clamp lashes near the roots. Hold for 10-30 seconds. Never curl lashes after you apply mascara -- as the mascara dries, lashes can stick to the curler & be torn from the roots. Don't bother curling bottom lashes.

4. I like to put mascara on the lashes while in the curler, just makes it easier for me! But not all curler brands work for this. The tweezer man model does not allow for it, while the shu uemura definately does!

5. For the wand type heated eye lash curler you use it like you would a mascara wand.

6. For the squeeze type (shu uemura), see this picture...http://www.morethanokay.com/images/eyelash.jpg but remember not to wear mascara while curling!

What eyelash curler are you using? check out shu uemura's. it's the greatest! =) a makeup artist told me a trick that when curling your lashes look at the tip of your nose. so you won't get so teary-eyed and blink away most of the time (it worked for me) then, slightly lean your curler moving towards your eyes. (slanting position) Just make sure that you curl just before the roots of your lashes. ( a length you're comfortable with-- because if it's almost the roots it really hurts ). Then push the curler upwards. Give it a few seconds. =)

Don't forget the mascara =)

Good luck!

very, very still. I don't curl my eyelashes b/c I think it will pull them out. You can use your mascara wand. Put it up right next to you lid and twist. It pushes the lashes up.
