I do NOT mean cubic zirconium. I mean actual lab created diamonds. They are sometimes set in sterling silver with platinum rhodium finish. I am just curious as to the look of the jewelry, and if it looks cheap or cheesy. I am particularly interested in how it looks after it has been worn for a while.

Uhhh, no Kate, YOU'RE confused...A cubic zirconium is different. Its made of zirconium oxide (ZrO2), and is a diamond simulant. A lab created diamond is molecularly identical to a natural diamond. There is a DIFFERENCE between a synthetic (lab created) diamond, and a diamond simulant (CZ). I am well informed of the differences, but curious about the appearance. The people who own them will know what I mean.

A synthetic diamond has exactly the same chemical and physical properties as a natural diamond.

Appearance and care:
It will last you for the same time as a natural one and not get scratched. It also chips in the same fashion as a natural one and requires the same kind of care. You can expose it to ultrasonic cleaning in the same way as a natural diamond and most of all you can put it in all of the same settings as a natural diamond.

Inclusions:
The important thing that you should be aware of is that a lab-created diamond will have 'inclusions' which are 'lab created'. You can expect black specs (flux) or carbon inclusions of various sizes and un-natural shape whereas in a natural diamond you can expect natural inclusions such as a feather (small crack like appearance) etc.

4 C’s
They have their own system of grading clarity. Color, cut and weight in either of the two diamonds is judged on the same basis. You would buy either of the two diamonds keeping these 4Cs in mind.

Treatment and Resale value:
You should be aware of the treatment and resale value of the lab-created diamonds before buying them. To read a further about these differences in lab-created vs. natural diamonds, log on to www.designdepot.blogspot.com

Lab Created Jewelry

These lab created diamonds are so good looking it takes a real expert to tell the difference. The scientists who create them use the same products to make them as the earth-created diamonds. Only the speed is different. It's making the diamond industry very unhappy. They aren't cheap, though. Just a little less. In time, for as long as they've been around, there doesn't seem to be any difference in wear from the natural diamonds.

Yes. Although I totally support lab created diamonds...they don't seem to sparkle as much as the natural diamonds. It doesn't look cheap or cheesy. It's just that I've owned fair-size natural diamonds for a long time so I can tell the difference.

Uhhhh, cubic zirconia IS the artificially synthesized diamond . . . (lab)
And it is ALL of the same quality because of the production method .
Only the cuts will vary , just as they do with natural diamonds.
You appear confused . . .
