I'd like the challenge of having to fix the team with the General Manager in the short-term so the bunch isn't the laughing stock of the MLB, but also prepare for the long-term in order to win a Championship. I also assume that they have an average budget unlike the Yankees, so I couldn't buy my way into the playoffs. I would probably use a lot of Billy Beane's techniques described in Moneyball by Michael Lewis seeing how well they've worked for him in the regular season.
I'd also rather be the General Manager because the Manager does not do as much infrastructure work on hte team as the General Manager does.

I'd probably pick the Twins. The have less talent than some other teams, but they are young and seem to play the game because they love it, not because they are paid to. Also, the Twins don't really have any superstar egos on their team. They have a batting champ that is a shy choir boy and an MVP in Morneau that just goes to the ballpark every day and does his job. Throw in the best pitcher in baseball in Johan Santana and you have a pretty easy job (not that managing is easy, but easier under those circumstances) Add a media that is 100% behind you unless you violate a major law like catch more fish than your limit in a Minnesota lake.
The only drawback would be playing inside the "Homer Dome" (quite possibly the most boring stadium in the world)
So, i take the Twins

The Texas Rangers...because they are my favorite team and the ballpark is only 20 minutes from home. Besides, I couldn't do any worse than what we've had for the last 30+ years.

Play for the Nationals. they're my native land team. Nothings greater effective than enjoying for a native land team. The followers love you that much greater. cope with the Phillies. merely being around that clubhouse...Rollins, Utley, Howard, Burrell, Hamels, Gordon, Lidge, Myers. must be relaxing. quite if Myers asks you (as supervisor) to prank Kendrick that he's going to Japan for Kobayashi (the nice and snug dogs eater)

I wouldn't want to manage any team in baseball. I'd rather be the General Manager.

I would choose the Mets just because they are my team. If I was the manager of the Mets I would be worried about my starting pitching .
