Yeah MJ never elbowed or got into fights....you know nothing about basketball "ticketbowl".....tell that to Reggie,Stockton,Isiah,Starks and his Bulls teamates during his rookie year.

Kobe has his team over 500.(something MJ never did without a top 50 player(PIP).His(MJ)playoff record was 1-9
so Kobe has already won more playoff games without a top 50 player then MJ!

It's hard to say since Kobe is still in his prime and his career is nowhere near over. At times Kobe has flashes of greatness that even Jordan couldn't match(anyone remmeber 81 points and 12 3 pointers?). So yeah on offense I'd say Kobe is better than Jordan but he lacks the same deffensive pressure that Jordan posessed(not that Kobe isn't a great defender). Overall though, I say Jordan is better at the moment just because we haven't seen all of Kobe's career.

Wow, thats the most incoherent rambling I've heard in a long time. Bro, the only reason Kobe's even on the map is because of his Pippen-like stint where he road the coat tails of Shaq Daddy. Without those 3 championships(where Shaq was Finals MVP all 3 times) Kobe would be TMac and this discussion would happen. Jordan won 5 League MVPs and 6 Finals MVP even if he had help at least he wasn't the help. And now that Kobe's "winning" with Kwame(they are actually 113-117 since the Diesel left) they are currently in 7th and hardly impressing anyone. Don't get me wrong Kobe is a great individual player, sure he can put up 80 on the Raptors or 65 on Portland, but he's not even in the same league as Jordan and he never will be. Please don't disrespect the game and history of basketball by questioning Kobe over Jordan. Maybe you could post a new question, "Who is better? Kobe or Pippen? " Now there is an arguement, I vote for Pippen, he played Defense.

You keep going back to the fact that MJ had Scottie...So... Kobe had Shaq. This is where MJ is a better player than Kobe. MJ had basketball IQ. Kobe doesn't. So what he scores 81 or 65 points. So what they win a few games every now and again when Kobe goes off. MJ had the sense to realize that he had something good and keep it going. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You talk about supporting casts. Jordan had a bunch of misfits until he started trusting Scottie and then Scottie took off. Kobe had a hall of fame roster with Malone, Payton, Shaq and they didn't do s..hit!! How's that for leadership. You think if Jordan had Barkley, Pippen and Magic, they would have lost? You are out your damn mind. Get your mind right pimpin, before you start running off at da lip, and this comes from a Laker fan. 58th. and Hoover *****.. Better recognize!!!

I'm a big fan of Kobe but there's no way he's better than MJ. If you compare the career stats you'll see why. However I feel like Kobe will be a much better player once he reaches 30 just like MJ was a better player in his 30s. Kobe might finish with more total points and assists because he started playing so young but I don't see him reaching a 30.1 ppg average for his career. He will probably be a 27 ppg player(He's at 24.3 now). Kobe is not a great of a shooter as of now but I think his percentage will go up as he matures and becomes a more patient shooter and he'll pass the ball more. He'll win at least another ring and hopefully a couple of MVPs but I don't think he'll be as great as MJ. He'll come very close though.

Who was the best defender in Chicago Bulls?? Jordan?? HELL NO..Pippen was! Jordan was a great player and we can't take away anything he has achieved but the fact of the matter is he received some big time help... in the front cout you got Rodman, Horace Grant, guardin the big guys and Pippen in the backcourt...Jordan was an overrated defender fsho. And overall Jordan received so much more help then Kobe did (Ok he had shaq, but shaq should've deferred to Kobe, like he does now to wade, when his play was declining, they would still be together and would've won more championships). Jordan had Ron Harper, John Paxson, Cartwright, Longley, Kerr and all these good players...who did Kobe have other than Shaq? A washed out Glen Rice, a washed out ron harper and mitch ritchmond and the rest of them were average role players.

Kobe's stats back up his achievements...his 81 is 2nd highest in nba history...how close is jordan to that???? Kobe is the best defender in his team and his teammates suck big time. THey don't make shots when he works hard to set them up and Smush especially is a huge liability on D and somehow through that they almost knocked off the suns last year...seems like Kobe has more impact in his first 10 years in the league than Michael did in his first 10 years.

MJ w/o Pippin. Kobe w/o Shaq. I don't really get your point. It's not that people are "Kobe haters" for saying he's no where near MJ's level, it's the truth. There are plenty of Kobe d*ck riders out there who have this fantasy that he is the best. Explain why. 81 points. It's been topped. 3 championships. Please. How many MVP's does Kobe have? 0. Jordan has 5. Finals MVP's? Kobe 0, MJ 6. So why is Kobe better? I'd love to hear this. Damn MJ haters...LOL!!!

Isn't the discussion about MJ and Kobe. You have to bring up Bill Russell. Make a little fun of my spelling because thats all you got. How lame. And Kobe may be in his prime now, but didn't MJ play 4 YEARS @ North Carolina? Seriously, get off the dudes c0ck already.

Kobe's good but MJ is the man. Kobe has never been able to take over a game like MJ has done. MJ has six championships... Kobe three. But MJ never needed PIP cuz when MJ was "retired" those two years in between the three-peats the Bulls were garbage. Kobe has obviously scored the second most points in a game ever in the history of the NBA but he's still missing something; SHAQ... yeah Kobe + Shaq = three championships. So to anwer the question, I'm taking Mike.

Okay, but seriously. We are talking about Michael Jordan right? I'm just checking. Look, I know people want to compare MJ and Kobe, and I can understand. I just ask that when you do it to remember what Jordan did. Besides the MVP's and the rings. He changed the way the game was played. He's the reason that 2 guards put up over 25 points a night. He's the reason Kobe's coach got the triangle offense to work. He paved the way for Kobe. Can anyone be better than the original? It's possible for someone to put up bigger numbers, that will be the case years down the road from Kobe, but to change the way the game is played is huge. I'm not neccessarily a Jordan fan. I admire what he did, but I was an Hakeem guy myself. I'm the same with Kobe. I admire what he can do, but my favorite players are KG and the Matrix. As for Pippen, he was no good without Jordan. Jordan allowed him to never be double teamed. He always gave Pippen an outlet to get an assist. He needed MJ much more than MJ needed him. I'm not even going to comment on Kwame, you can just reference the first two lines if you want my feelings on that.

Oh, and Jordan showed the rest of the world how to play dirty and get away with it. Apparently Kobe needs to improve that part. He's getting better. The Korver elbow didn't look as blatant as the other two. Personally I've got no problem with those incidents. They were dealt with, and are water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned.

The most important thing, that we can tell now, is that Kobe has scored 81 points in one regulation game (2006). MJ's 2 top highs are in OT! And Kobes second was 65 in OT, Today! His 3rd was 62 against the Maves, and the Maves as a team only had 61 (Last year)! As soon as Kobe gets 3 more rings and about 2 or 3 MVPs, he will be known as the best world wide, and not just by smart Laker fans!

24 for Life, Lakers for Life!!!!

Ok... first lets get something straight: it wasn't just Pippen. What made the Bulls so great was their roll players. I mean they had the best pure rebounder in basketball history (rodman) One of the best lockdown defensive guards of all time (harper) They had a slightry worse version of Nowitski (Kukoc). And I mean how many times are you going to see your forth string guard make a finals winning shot (kerr).

Secondly: how is Kobe winning currently? They haven't made a conference finals without shaq. Jordan won six championships with a much worse sidekick (pippen) than kobe did (shaq).
