That would be a german gold ram cichlid. Beautiful fish those are. I had one myself until it died of a bacterial infection today. As it gets used to the new environment it's colors will really brighten up.

It is a dwarf cichlid from South America. See link below for a short profile on german rams. With a short summary on the care of these rather delicate fish.

I can't even tell from the pic. For all I can see, it could just as well be a blushing tetra. I hope you have proper tanksmates for it whatever it is. When the store gives you an unknown fish, you should take it right back to them. If you don't know what it is, you don't know if it will live nicely with your current fish.

wow. It's pretty! But it doesnt look like a cichlid at all.And it aint powder blue.

I researched on it.It IS a cichlid! It's called a ram cichlid. They are the less agressive type amongst other cichlid species.
But the colors do range from grey,to blue to yellow in a ram cichlid and yours does look a little blue.
Beautiful,though.and unique.

What you've got is a fish commonly known as the ramirezi. Here's a pic of the fish.

well---it is a cichlid of some type-----hard to tell since it is young and out of it's element------after it gets established in it's new environment the coloration will improve and identification will be easier.-----looks frightened here LOL------a convict?

That is called the magical chicken fish. It uses magic to transform from fish to chicken, and then back to a fish any time it wants.
