The road's are horrible, crime is bad, but hey, The weather's nice. Same drawbacks and benefits of any major city. I recommend the suburbs. You can really get alot more for your money that way, especially in Florida.
If I can I recommend Spring Hill about 40 minutes south in Hernando county. I've lived there for ten years and it's a nice town, housing is cheap, crime isn't bad, and the town is really on it's way up. They call it the next Tampa but i'd say it's safe to assume that's some years off.
Big oppurtunities if your investing in land. My father purchased a lot just outside of town in Hernando beach, The Value has tripled what it was five years ago.
