Everytime I try to burn some music onto a CD it will only burn 6 songs. What's up with that?

It only recently started doing this....my computer is only a year old!

My friend's cd burner did the same thing last year....

I haven't messed with any settings, one day it worked, and the next it decided not to work anymore...

Lower the recording speed in the drive properties to the speed the disc operates on.

Did you recently switch brands of CD-R? Some drives are finicky as to what discs they will use, some discs are also made cheaply so they fail easier. If you have not switched CD brands, then you might have a dirty lens on the burner. Go buy a CD DRIVE cleaning kit and use it.

check the CD's may be old ones, check the file sizes there could be many reasons

by the way I hope these are legal copies, not download of the internet

try writing them at a slower speed. My comp did the same thing and this helped usually.

i would look around in the setting....and play with them....or try a different recording program.
