Unless you're going to a house of easy virtue, you won't find the big parties in Japan. Places that come close to what you seek are prohibitively expensive. Some even have signs stating "No Americans" not because they don't like us, but because they don't want to embarrass us with the price.

Everything is expensive and crowded. I don't know where in Japan you're going but expect to lay out some serious coin. If you're visiting a Japanese family, a bottle of good scotch is most welcome. The Japanese have their own versions and they are inferior.

Sightseeing is nice. Try to enjoy and learn a bit about their culture. If you go in as the "Ugly American" such as you suggest, you will insult the people and end up having a terrible time.

Japan is a very low-key country, the best stuff is almost always done under the table. I hear the best places in Europe to party are in Spain and Munich. Forget all that. You need to have something specific in mind you want to do before you seeking fun in Tokyo. That said, if you're looking for women, have lots of money and prepare to pay according to ethnicity. Japanese women often won't take on non-Japanese speaking clients (more often that not, just non-Japanese). Picking one up in a bar is a possibility, but there's all sort of crazy attachments involved there. So basically you're looking at Phillipinos, Chinese, and Koreans. Not a bad selection, really. Roppongi and Kabukicho (in Shinjuku) are the best places to find whatever you're looking for. Just remember, if the guy says "no gaijin" just smile and say "sorry" and walk out. It's nothing personal.

Don't listen to Skye's advice. Taking one shoes off is also common in one of the U.S. states so why would that be crazy in another country? If it is not crazy in Hawaii it is not crazy in Japan. It is a sign of respect and the fact that the resident doesn't know where your shoes have been. And it is also to keep the house clean from outside dirt! Other than that, sorry no advice here. Haven't been to Japan...yet!

Unless you are planning on getting yourself a slezebag hooker and some junk and running the risk of getting robbed and beaten by her Himo or baishun assen gyosha...

The Japanese idea of fun and partying is going to a dance club, going to a Karoke bar with drinks and private rooms (which is actually cheaper) or playing Pachinko.

They stay out late, dance hard and play hard... but it is nothing like in the USA. It is still respectful and rather low key.

If you want to do drugs and get a hooker... Be careful!
shitsukoi kyatchiman ni wa ki o tsukero yo!

Say this if you want to pick up a whore...

Esu wa do?

Then ask her...beddo de yokatta bu?

I enjoyed just going to clubs and bars, and we would stay out later than the trains ran so we had to sleep on the streets on occasion and take the first train home in the morning.

just go to roppongi and party out. i wont recommend to pay for girls cuz its expensive and you know yakuzas own those wierd places so you will get ripped off. kabuki cho is one place but my friend had to pay 4000 dollars for a beer and a smile. or my friend paid 200 dollars for entrance fee and when he opened the door there was only one old ugly lady behind the counter. he ran off.. its scary sometimes.. you will have a good time at roppongi with shameless amateur girls who is desperate to meet foreigners to escape japan life.
good luck

I can hardly understand why this kind of damn question is permitted here.
From Japanese eyes, you are the least appreciated American tourist here. If you are looking for crazy parties, booze and women, you better go somewhere else.

Don't do anything "crazy" in Japan, you will then have a negative image.

One crazy thing is to take off your shoes before/when you enter a household.
