When you have had a tailbone injury in your lifetime you can't sit on any hard floor, you'll need to sit using pillows. And learn to sit on sofas and soft chairs and if you drive then put a pillow in the car for comfort. Sometimes there is a chip or a hairline crack that is undetermined on x-rays. You'll just have to solve the problem by yourself. Advil does work for taking away pain but don't use it often and take it only after eating. My doctor supplemented with vitamin C.

Nothing you really do to take the pain away for good. I broke mine when I had my daughter in 1996. Some meds and a ice pack is all the Doctor gave me. Now when it hurts, I use a heating pad and sometimes a light massage and take advil. It sucks when you are down on the floor and can't get up with out having the pain that makes you want to cry. I feel for ya..because I k now the pain all to well. Good Luck and if you find anything that helps, please let me know!

ligaments are involved when it comes to the spinal column down to the tail bone. Its unfortunate you feel like you did but most important xrays dont show tears necessarily so you could have from a strained ligament to a torn ligament and not know it. Its also most important to get a second opinion from a specialist who studies that part of the body better than a general medicine physician who has an understanding of the body.
The specialist knows that a general x ray can mis diagnose a injury and good luck should you find that you need aggressive medication maintenance for pain.

A chip would show up on an X-Ray and a bruise would heal in a year or more. There are 4 vertebrae in the Coccyx (tailbone) that are fused together, it might be possible you pinched a nerve in one of these vertebrae.

You probably bruised it really bad or you may have a chip that is causing the pain.
