If I found out my mom was a lesbian I would support her and love her like I always have.

To me, this is not a "what if" question. My mother is a lesbian. I found out when I was 11 years old. Other than a few small incidents at school, it was not a huge or tragic event in my life.
Her sexual practices were not (and should not!) be the talk of the dinner table. My mother was able to expose us to different views and teach us to have an open mind. We (my siblings and I) were not "taught" to be homosexuals - but we were taught to be tolerant and open to others.
Her life-partner was a wonderful woman who taught me how to cook, sew, work on a car, paint, wall-paper....basically to be an independent person. She loved my mother and took better care of her than my father or step-father were able.
It is not my place (or opinion) to say that this type of relationship is wrong.

Give her a high 5, tell her I always suspected and go cruising with her. My Mom is a pretty awesome person overall and none of that would be effected by her sexuality. I would support her 100% if she chose to come out.

After choking on my coffee, I'd probably giver her a look and then walk away.
Not because I was upset that she was gay, but moreover that once again, Mom was competing with me as she always does! If I'm an artist, she has to pretend to be an artist. If I get involved in community theatre, she has to get involved in hers. If I come out as gay...Now she has to? Dang...can't she do ANYTHING on her own?

I would try to understand her, and take it in slowly. I'd probably go to counseling with her to make things right. I wouldn't want to lose that friendship between a mother and daughter/son just becuz of the gender they like.

Nothing. Being my mom is the most important thing. Plus, if she's not going to be with my dad, who cares as long as she is happy?
