How many panda bears are in the USA?

Someone told me that the US only has 6 or 7 pandas, is this true?

There are 3 in Atlanta, 2 in Memphis, 4 In San Deigo, and 3 in D.C. at the National Zoo.

Edit: I guess some had babies I didn't know about....thanks for correcting me!

Carrie is almost right. There are 6 in San Diego, not 4, for a total of 14. The only ones I've visited are Tai Shan (age 2), Mei Xiang (mom) and Tian Tian (pop) at the National Zoo in Washington.

They are amazing, gorgeous, funny, well worth a visit.
