Aristotle.
His works are pretty much the starting point, except for maybe Plato (Socrates), of philosophical courses. His influence with ethics, politics, and method were quite revolutionary. His works have withstood the test of time, which is a credit to how well thought out they are. I chose Aristotle over Plato because his works are more positive, where as Plato's works are deductive arguments that generally result in an impasse. Certainly Kant or Nietzsche could be mentioned as well as many others.

Jesus. He didn't just ponder the answers to life's questions, he knew the answers and he put the philosophy into words that every layman of the time could understand. He raised the bar for humanity in terms of what we can achieve. More than anyone else he has changed the course of history forever.
