Get your trusty hair dryer out! Heat the wax, wipe up... you might have to do several times. Another thing you could try is putting a paper towel down first, then put the hair dryer on the spot, it should melt. I would'nt put any chemicals on a wood floor, anything petroleum based on a chemical based finish. It could remove it! Just go slow, little bit at a time, I had wax on my tv (plastic), just kept heating and wiping, it eventually was gone. Once all gone, try a "Murphy's Oil Soap", it's really good at cleaning and leaves a nice sheen. Smells good too.

Take a putty knife and heat it up with a torch or on the stove. Not too hot! Just enough to melt the wax. Then simply whisk it away. You might want to wear gloves.

Soak a rag in hot water and lightly rub it on the wax. This should loosen the wax.

Try turpintine, use a small amount on a towel, don't rub one spot to long or you will take the finish off, but it will come off.
