But why? Why do you let your reputation control you?
You decide what is right for you and wrong for you. And act accordingly. If I'm strict with my team and take no nonsense, then I get the reputation of being a tough taskmaster. But then, that is the way I am. Is it a good reputation, or a bad reputation? I don't care. I need to get my job done, and that is the way I am.
If I listen to people, I have a reputation for being sensitive, and caring. Is this good/bad? It depends. But I don't care. I am what I am.
Can you change your genuine nature just because you want to build a particular reputation? I don't think so. And even if you try, I don't think you will be happy in life. You will just be living for others and not for yourself.

the seemingly obvious answer would be "yes",however, if someone has a problem with you or are jealous of you, they can spread almost unstoppable rumors that cause great damage to you..but byond that-if you live, as best you can, a life beyond reproach, yes you can control your reputation.
Who you run around with, the places you frequent, if you indulge in imoral lifestyle, don't give school the attention it/studies deserve, etc, etc. certainly impacts how people perceive you. as does a lot of other things for good or bad.
Don't run with the crowd when they are the kind to try and pull you down to their undisciplined level.. There is an old saying "lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas" though I am not comfortable with the word dogs applied to any human being but it is to make a point.

No. People will say and believe whatever they want. Sometimes it can be fuelled by resentment, envy or retribution. Other times it can be a complete misunderstanding. It will only control you if you allow it to affect you. You just have to learn to not worry about what people say or think about you because it doesn't change whatever the truth is. A lie is a lie even if everyone believes it, the truth is the truth even if no-one believes it. Also, if you go around trying to correct people whenever they mave a misconception or misperception of you, then you will spend your whole life doing it.

your reputation is what you control, not others. either you have a bad rep. or a good rep. depending on your own attitude and actions. if you are known to be a trouble maker and like to fight, then you have a bad reputation. if you are known to be kind, and you like doing things to help people out, then you have a good rep.. those are just minor examples of a reputation.
but you are the one who controls it. not everyone else. for instance, a skunk carries a reputation, you know if you smell a skunk to get the heck away.. right? thats a reputation.

this is either a silly question or a trick one. once you use the word 'your' or 'mine' it is a word of ownership. if you feel, at any time, that anyone other than you are controlling your life or reputation then it was never yours, from the beginning or at any other time. remember: nobody toots your own horn quite like you & nobody & i mean nobody can put you down without your approval. this is one time when just saying NO works!

A reputation is a hard thing to change. After all it is how others believe or perceive you to be...which may not always be correct. I guess you could attempt to change your actions to prove people wrong.
Being typecast is awful.

No. You cannot control what others think of you. Is a form of manipulation only. What you choose to do with it is up to you.

Yes, you can definitely control how others perceive you. They are not controlling you, rather you are controlling yourself and how you wish to be treated.

Yes. People judge you by the friends you keep, and by how well you keep your word.
