dont have to be gucci but yea...why do girls always want these bags? why do they love them so much? i mean its only a bag and cost like a cheap computer....why dont u just get one of those small travel bags haha or get a fake gucci bag...for 9.99$...

I don't really get it either, the most I've ever spent on a purse is $60. I don't get why you would pay $1,000's for a purse that's quality is no better then something a little cheaper. You're just paying for the designer's ego and name.
I think you should put that purse money to good use and donate it to charity org.

I just love handbags. I don't go around looking for a particular designer. If I like it then I will buy it. I have bags that vary in price. I will not buy a bag just because its a status symbol or because its popular. As a matter of fact the most atrocious bag I've ever seen was a Louis vuitton.

I do not think that girls love the bags, I personally think that the bags are gawd ugly, I think that girls love the name, the more popular the name, the more the girls are gonna want one. If I could afford a Gucci bag (lol) I would probaly buy one, but for right now, Im stuck with my fake leather one from the dollar general...HA. xox

for most people, yeah, it is status, because most people can't appreciate the bags for themselves and have to rely on society to tell them what is of value. but there are people who actually know something about real fashion and quality, and gucci is a quality brand. it has its roots in equestrian goods (hence the horse bit) and really has top-notch leathers, as well as other materials not found on cheap substitutes, like real crocodile and 24K gold hardware. these materials are expensive, and the bags aren't made in third world countries, but rather by skilled craftspeople. furthermore, they are well constructed and last, with a considerable eye towards aesthetics. without gucci you all wouldn't have your cheap knockoffs, because there wouldn't be anything to knock off.

Look buddy. Your question is equivalent to asking "why do guys like to drive bmw's or porches?". Why can't you guys just drive a Geo or a Hyundai. Guys like to show off their rides and girls like to carry fashionable and high-end designer hand bags. A gucci is like that must have Mercedes and a fake Gucci is like one of those Mercedes look-alike cars made in China.

Probably because it's a designer bag and everyone wants the designer things, but a lot of people really want Louis Vuitton and Coach bags, too. Also Dooney and Bourke, but you don't hear about that too much.

Some bags are ridiculously priced, but some are worth the investment if you get a nice, classic one that won't go out of style with the "trendy" ones....

Personally I don't like those bags. Mostly because they have thier names and decals all over them and personally I think its a little crazy to buy a bag that expensive and they're getting free advertisement everytime you wear thier purse. They should be paying me to wear one huh? :)
I think women buy these more to "keep up with the Jones'" you know what I mean. I'd just rather buy a nice looking bag for a reasonalbe price and spend my money on more important thing. But I'm pretty sure I'm the exception.
