I've used word pad one other programs and gotten them to show up as web pages in Word. But after I type up the program I want and save it, all it shows up as in word is what I had typed before instead of a web page, and I don't understand why. So.. if anyone could help me here I would be much obliged.

Wordpad is an expanded version of Notepad.
Wordpad is able to bold your text, italicize, or underline your text. Wordpad saves its files using Rich Text Format (RTF) by default. You can save your Wordpad files with Text (txt) format, but you'll lose the formatting. Anyway, you do not need any formatting if you use those pads to write a source code. Just type those codes and save it into a file of HTML (for Web pages), JS (JavaScript), PAS (Pascal Source Code), BAS, or any other type.

I am not sure that you are not confusing WordPad with Word. (Word is part of Microsoft Office.)

Word will do a conversion to html and create a web page and WordPad will not. WordPad is just a step above NotePad and allows you to save formatted text.

You must have Microsoft office installed on those other machines.

If you are writting the underlying HTML code(tags) you are better off using a text editor like NotePad which creates unformatted text. But chances are that if you were doing that you wouldn't be asking this question...

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Wordpad. Only MS Word saves as Web pages.

It sounds like you are using wordpad to write web pages and are saving them as text files. When saving, make sure the file extension is .htm or .html

This is because you are save the word pad in .RTF format file or .TXT format file if you are using notepad. For example if you want to view as html file, try to save it as .html or .htm. The problem occur because you not save the file that you want. If you want to view it as webpage, try save it .html. For example, Mywork.html
