Does anyone know the percent of people in the world who like country music??

maybe there are statistics for country sales as opposed to say, rap. I disagree with the statement that it's mainly American, the likes of Vernon Oxford couldn't make it in US because he was too country,but was liked here,a lot of country music these days is just pure pop,garth brooks for example.

Hey dancer, I can't tell you, but for example here, in Argentina, only the most famous artists are well known, like the Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, T,Tritt, Garth Brooks, Reba, Vince Gill and not so much, and I know that there's a huge list of excelent artists. Maybe the companies are not interested in other countries than USA to publish that music, it's really hard to find country CDs here. But still I think there's really good music and you have to be very proud of that so original american music. Bye.

Like was said above, it's truly an American thing. Other places only really have a folk scene. Country is about and around the Southern US. Therefore, a better question is how much of the US likes country music?

I don't know the percentage...I love country music but I also like rock, pop, classical, basically anything but hard rock or rap.
Its all a matter of taste. And i like to think liking a variety of music IS good taste.

im not a big fan. ALTHO the only one that truly matters and is still alive is Willie Nelson.

i can't imagine very many people in the world liking it. i think it's more or less an american thing isn't it
