They do because everything of similar constitution, by nature, falls under a category of its own, just as a fly is generally considered a pest due to its inherent ability to piss people off by buzzing its filth-infested body around people when they're trying to do something without the desire of a living, flying, piece of **** getting in their way.
It's normal to stereotype, albeit within reason. When we see a wandering dog alone in the streets coming our way, we protect our kids in case it may bite and have a disease -- until we find by experience that this dog isn't so harmful and aggressive after all and that although stereotyping is a natural process of life when assessing things we don't know -- and sometimes things we do -- that each constituent of the stereotyped denomination can -- and does -- have its own characteristics that separate it from its own.

Have you ever heard the cliche "Never judge a book by it's cover"? I cannot give you the correct answer to your question, only advice. I use it to my advantage and should have won an Oscar. There is a method to my madness. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world that He didn't exist.

believe it or not stereotypes come from somewhere, not matter hard it is to admit. No one just came up with most of them out of the blue. So that's why, people see things and make generalizations from groups of people. Simple really.
