no.. i dont really think its for people to come to the rescue when they hear it though, more as a scare-factor for the stupid crooks who cant read the sticker on the window that says this is a vehicle protected with such-and-such alarm.

No, I don't pay attention, I just think "why won't the cars owner just go yurn it off". But, think about this, if you were breaking into a car, you would still avoid the cars with car alarms, and if they broke in and heard the alarm, you would book it. So they do help in the way that, burglars will try to avoid cars that have car alarms.

If its not my car, who would I pay attention? Then again... I think it would be mean to not tell people "someones car alarm is going off" so I guess I do pay attention.

I might not pay attention to one going off unless I was breaking into a car then it would make me walk away. That's the whole point I think

No I don't pay much attention to it at all.
I just think to myself, why didn't the silly idiot put an engine immobiliser on the car instead???
Oh and after about 5 minutes I think, where the hell is the damn owner of the car!

No they make me angry. But one time I heard car alarm that spoke!!! It told people to get away from the car.

some people out there do pay attention..thats why they make them..it does deter people from stealing cars, especially if someone is around to hear it go off..
