Lots of icons in the notification area, I want to disable them so they wont appear anymore. I have chosen the "hide when inactive" in the behavior option list. They appear so that means they are still active. How do I deactivate them so they would no longer start or run automatically every time I log in to windows?

I use a nifty program called StartCop to determine which programs are allowed to start up each time I boot my OS. You may need to Google around a little to find a good download site, but the program is golden.

Right click on the icon and go to properties most items give you an option to hide icon in the advanced tab. Also you can click start menu then run, type msconfig, click startup uncheck the items you don't want. Do these one at a time and restart to verify there are no problems.

The window ought to lag some seconds formerly it disappears, it really is prevalent.

Go to: Start--> Run. Type in msconfig and hit enter. Click on the "startup" tab. From here, you can disable most of the annoyances by unchecking their corresponding boxes- so they won't keep coming back. You just have to try and figure out which is which and not disable anythiong that you need....but you can always go back abnd fix it if you screw up. Disable what you want...click "Apply"- restart your 'puter, and all the crap will be gone.
