We've taken one the last two years, but this year, money is just too tight. My husband needs a break from work, and I need a break from the house. Plus, Mom's living with us, and even if we could afford it, she probably couldn't withstand a trip, due to her health and she couldn't stay alone. I don't know of anyone else she could stay with either. And we have a new puppy that we couldn't afford a kennel for. I really need some ideas before the summer gets here.

Wow, you have got a plate full don't you.....okay not the best idea in the world but can you afford a couple days that are not at home.....midweek specials at hotel you are still not home and your mom doesn't have to go.....can't you find someone who would look in on her ......

With regard to your mom, her medicare should pay for some home health care...you need a break girl...good luck....

Are there any other family members that can stay with her if not for only a couple of days to give you and your husband some time alone. Maybe the two of you could just spend a couple of nights at a hotel, or maybe go camping if you're into camping, it's free and will give you both a chance to relax and spend some time together.

Well I would say stay home and just cool out but if you are sick of home, then I would say go to a hotel just you and your husband for a couple nights. See if a someone in the family can come over and watch the puppy and your mom. While you are gone. Puppys can stay in the house, just make sure to train them to go outside when they have to go potty. A regular fence your husband could make or build or even you could do it, depending on the size of your dog, for the heigh the wood fence. My dad figured out how big he wanted the dog area to be. Used regular fencing to do it. Then on the edges used wood to hold the fencing up. Then made two wood doors. It looks really nice and didn't cost to much either. We are also on a tight budget.
My grandmother lives with my mom and i, dad, sain bernard, kitten, and who ever else decides to come by that day to stay. My house isn't all that big or small, but when it comes to your mother I know how you feel with my grandmother. for my vacation I just stayed home. I just needed to relax and just not be at work. I did go with my mom to a theme park thought. DIdn't cost to much for hte day. Check it out, there are also great ideas on the net, just check local listings for you area.

I don't know where you live, but regardless, I'm sure you can find some local places to go to for entertainment. And even though you want to get out of the house, there's nothing wrong with staying home and relaxing.

Rent a camper, that way your mother and puppy can both go. A week camping will relax all of you and you can do it as a family.
(If I lived near you, I would volunteer to take care of your mother and puppy.)
Maybe you could find someone.

OK, here's what you do. Go to the store and buy a box of Tampons. It tells you right on the box that you can go water skiing, horseback riding, hiking, jogging, plus a lot more. You don't even have to buy the large box. Hope you have a great time.

Camp out in your backyard!

Seriously, it's fun and sooo convenient, especially in your circumstances!
