I was on a tour to (India) tamil nadu , witnessed the genius work of architecture on the Brihadeeswarar temple. I want to know how did or how could those people at that time - a thousand years ago could lift and carry a 70 - 80 ton vihana ( semi hemisphere ) granite stone sculputre to a height of about 70 meter high to the temple top a 1100 years ago. WOW
My father who is also an engineer in UK salutes and adores with amazement of how this Indians could have done it at that time. ( because no civilization untill mid 20th century developed the technology and ability of tall CRANES to lift at one go as heavy as 80 ton.
I still wonder till today how could they have done it ( liffting a 70-80 ton stone to a height of 70 meters 1100 years a go)- simply genius

when someone ask such a question then somebody have to answer it. I beleive most of the answerers here are young and not professional. Mr. Jai Hind - learn to make Ur own researches, look in the net for what India have achived expecialy inthe fields of science, technology and professionalism then find out the ammount of such achivers contributing in such fields from each states then make this sum of people a ratio out of thier total population in that state - here U'll get some numbers - compare them within states and voilla...there U'll know which group contains and contributes the most intelligent peoples to our nation -

I am a Tamil and I say its the Tamil people - here are some just some
The Great Ramanujan - invented over 3000 powerful mathematical formulas - known as self thought mathematician, he never had proper formal education & was even iconized by two Hollywood movies. The partial fraction theory that we learn in high school was one of his work. He was a Tamil ( there are 30 more of such grand geniuses in mathematics alone to acknowledge)
India won only two noble prizes in physics : both were from Tamilians of Tamil nadu ( Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman,) until today we learn in high school on RAMAN effect then Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, for dwarfing effect of neutron stars - NASA even named after him a telescope.
The First Asian to have taken lead and won the pride as the powerfull chess grandmaster from Russiins : Anand Viswanath is a typical tamil and second best in India after him is Sasikiran, Krishnan another tamil Grand master
to cut short the list - we have today APJ Abdul kalam ( rocket scientist and nuclear engineer) a Tamil Scholar who frequently refers the 2500 years old Tamil poem Thirukurrals.
These are just the tip of iceberg - there are so many many more to add - tamil nadu has the most Bharat ratna awardees and scientific achivers they are not intelligent people but geniuses
Its The Tamils

We have enough divisions in this country and now this. However, I lean towards all the Southies (in equal measure, not only because I live here now - the choice of living here was dictated by the same reasons anyway). I find that unlike most of us Non-southies, southies are more balanced - think with their mind whereas we always do that with our heart gettting to emotional and thus go off-balance all the while.
Dark, so what? I feel they are fair from within. Americans are white, but are they fair :-) Poor? (hey man he must be living in prehistoric period-all the 4 states and UT rank in the top 10) So they can't be poor.

Friends....once upon a time all South Indians are tamilians as you all know cheran, chozhan and Pandian rules.... Tamilians are the first settlers of India 70,000 years before....proven history..The oldest DNA M130 exist in Madurai...! So no point in saying malayalee or telugu or kannadiga...all r from dravidian tamil background.. as tamil remains the mother tongue of all !!

People living in Gangatic Plain have better mathematical application than any other in India. South India has only high literacy rate than the Hindi Belt.. Literacy rate or technical education rate does not define intelligence....

It is a complex quetion that cannot be answered so easily and sensibly; even an extensive research cannot find a correct answer.
In my opinion, among the four - telugus, malayalees, Tamilians and Kannadigas there are equal number of Intelligent people one time or other - in the past or now. It will be so in future too.

It is a well-known fact that INDIANS are intelligent.
Another fact : "intelligence" has never been satisfactorially defined. "Intelligence" depends on various factors, such as genes, environment, etc.
Since there are so many factors, there is no CLEAR relation between race and intelligence.
There might be something to what you say, but you seem to have the forgotten the factor of inter-caste marriage. The divide between Indians is becoming blurred with time, resulting in intelligent INDIANS.
