You can add another HDD for storage. Set the jumpers on the old hard drive to the "Master" setting. Set the jumper on the new drive to "Slave". The new drive will have to be formatted after the computer is turned back on. Right tic on "My Computer" select "Manage" then tic "Device Manager". Tic the (+) next to "Disk Drives", both HDDs should be shown here. Right tic on the new HDD and select "Format". Use NTFS when asked, not FAT32. When the process is complete, the new drive will be ready to use for additional storage. If you want them to act as one, you will have to make sure that the mobo is RAID ready, and then set up a Redundant Array of Internal Drives.

Simple answer - the new drive will show up as a second hard drive in Windows.

What you should do - copy the image of the old drive to the new drive and change the locations of the drives. There is normally a CD that comes with the hard drive that allows you to copy the whole hard drive from one to another. You can't just copy the files using Windows Explorer. Once you copy and swap the hard drives you will have a lot more space on your main drive and get slightly faster boot up times since the new hard drive is more likely to be faster than your old one.

Yes, you can add another hard drive.
You will have to save things individually to each of the two drives, they will not act as one. You may need a different IDE cable if the one you have only has one connector. Your old drive must be set as "master" and hooked to the end of the cable. The new drive must be set as "slave" and hooked to the middle connector. Hook your CD/ROM drive or whatever else to the second IDE cable.
If you have two drives connected to the second cable, make sure one is master and one is slave, does not matter which is hooked to which connector on the second cable, (in most cases)

Good Luck!!

Yes, add it as a slave drive or get a new IDE controller card. You will most likely need your second IDE port for (an) optical drive(s)
