Yes. They can. Instead of going for a 1-4-1-4 formation,
they should go for a 4-4-2 with Crouch and Rooney on the attack. Gerrard should play from the right flank and J. Cole or S.W. Phillips from the left. Lampard and Carrick should play from the centre. They should play the way Arsenal or Man U play. Then there is no stopping them.

I'm sorry but no. The best chance we had was on WC06. Reason being was the depth of our squad. Rooney and Owen world class strikers. Best midfield lineup probably in the whole tournament in Becks, J. Cole, Lampard, and Gerrard. Defenders not bad either in Terry, Ferdinand, A. Cole, and Neville. I don't think we would ever get a squad as good as that, with players aging etcetera; and even they couldn't even play well together as a team.

Thats if they even qualify for the world cup. They are the most lousy team right now and most of heir players are just highly overrated.
They seem to be taking the route their cricket team is taking.

i imagine Portugal were given a sturdy shot at it this year, they appeared exceedingly sturdy of their first sport and france didnt look too particular direction cant say some thing until eventually the Italy vs NL journey this evening :P
