I just purchased a new HP Pavillion m7658n. It came with a video card that allows me to watch TV. When I began using it, I had a 19" monitor and I was able to watch tv, via cable, and watch dvd's with no problems. I just upgraded to a 24" monitor and now the dvd is "jerking"- I have tried using different DVD's. I am thinking that the video card cannot support the larger screen but can't confirm this. I spent a bit of money on the computer and would rather not have to spend another 125+ dollars on a new card, so I was thinking of plugging in a dvd player. The only issue is, I can't locate a channel to watch the dvd from the player, such as on my regular tv there is an ACV channel like on VCR's that may use channel 3. Any help would be appreciatd.

Try setting the video cards resolution to something lower than what is native to your 24" monitor. Set it to what you had with the 19" monitor when you are watching DVDs - like 1280x1024 rather than 1600x1200.

Hmmmm, you might check what the REFRESH RATE of your new monitor can support.
