I am 5 foot 1 and all my friends are atleast a head taller then me. I am always picked on and made fun of because I am short. Even my friends do it. When I ask them to stop alls they say is, "You know we love you and are just messing around." It is starting to get to me and it makes me really mad sometimes. People are constantly putting there arms on my shoulders and head and they look down and say "Hows the weather down there?" What should I do?

I think you need to tell them honestly how it makes you feel. Not just a casual "will you stop picking on me!" but an actual sit down for lunch & tell them it bothers you & you would like for it to stop. If they value you as a friend they will cut it out. If not, maybe they aren't really friends at all. As for strangers who do it...well....that's a tough one. People like to pick on other people...since kindergarten & it never stops. Just try not to take it so personally & keep in mind that you're not the only one who deals with it. Fat people have to deal with fat jokes & comments, tall people catch the "how's the weather up there?" comments, skinny people are called names, people with freckles, etc. It's a sad testament to our society really but people seem to find picking on others as a way to reassure themselves that they are the "normal" ones or to look superior to others. Don't let them have that much control over you. Don't let it get to you. You can't control their words but you CAN control your reaction to their words. Therein is where the power lies. Hey, I'm 5'1'' too! When I was in high school people always made fun of my height to0, but I never let it get to me because I know I can't change my height. If it is really making you mad let them know. Say hey I know you're playing around and everything but seriously can you not make these kind of jokes anymore. And hopefully they will stop, good luck!!!

that happens to me to cause all the guys are like 5'8 and above and all the girls are like 5'5 and above well i am only 5'3/5'4. Maybe you will still grow depending on your age.
No one messes with me anymore because one of my friends was always calling me a midget/ height impaired and saying i would be perfect for Sonny Moore cause he is only 5'4 and they kept making fun of me. (even though i love sonny moore) anyways i snapped one time and punched him in the face then kicked him in the balls and ran.

I would not worry about it. Short guys have it rough, but there is nothing wrong with being a short girl - a lot of guys like that.

Just flaty tell them that it hurts your feelings and it's not alright that they should make fun from your expense. My best guy friend is shorter than me but he knows I love him and doesn't mean harm. Sometimes friends don't necessarily understand that their jokes are hurtful towards you

The more you show that it bothers you the more they are going to clown you. Just accept the fact that you are short and be proud of who you are. Don't let it bother you since you can't do anything about it anyway.

Pick back with one of their physical attributes like if someone has big feet say" at least I don't have Sideshow Bob feet" ( the Simpsons). Eventually they will get it that you are sick of that crap.
