Is there something wrong with me, or am I the only American who thinks Hugo Chavez is not the evil "doer" that George W. Bush says he is? (He's the leader of Venezuela). I remember during Hurricane Katrina, after George W. Bush had just said all these hateful things about him - he was one of the first nations to offer us help. He offered us oil because all our refineries we destroyed. Bush declined. But then we had to pay a fortune for gas. Now Chavez, through CITGO has been offering cheap gas for poor Americans. Yes he calls Bush "the devil" - but hey - it's true! And he makes me laugh out loud the things he says about Bush! Because no one else has the nerve to say it - but deep down a lot of us are really thinking what he is saying. Now, tonight 20/20 had Barbara Walters interviewing him, and now, I REALLY LIKE HIM. I think he's really trying to make the world a better place as best he knows how. Anyone else feel like me? (Polish-American in case anyone was wondering)

They don't give you enough space to say all you need to say here. But, it seems that Wealthy people seem to be against Chavez. In NYC they are showing commercials with poor New Yorker's who had their heat turned off thanking Sr. Chavez for making basic heating oil available to poor Americans. There is even a guy from Massachusettes thanking him. I've hated Bush since he stared running - so anytime Chavez says anything negative about Bush it makes me laugh - because I am glad someone is brave enough to stand up to him.

Ok, regarding him being president for life - he SAID that we (USA) should get rid of term limits so if we want idiots like George W. Bush to be president for 30 years, it's possible. Yeah, he's president for life - but he also thinks everyone should have that option. I kind of think it sucked when Clinton was done with his 2nd term and we had NO CHOICE but to elect someone else and my only choices were: Al Gore and George W. Bush.

I like Hugo Chavez. He has done a lot of good for his people and for poor Americans.
He hates Bush because Bush tried to overthrow his government to put in a puppet oil government that would give all the profits to Bush's cronies in Big Oil. Bush hates Hugo because the coup didn't succeed.
Yes, Chavez is friendly with Iran, another oil rich country that Bush would like to invade to take its oil. I guess they think they are a united front against Bush the oil predator. There were no ties to 9/11 or any WMDs in Iraq but Bushie boy lied us into a war so he could make his friends rich and control the oil and OPEC seat.

This man is from a different culture. To him, Bush is from another culture. They bait each other. Actually Bush doesn't know what to make of him. And with Bush, well, oil is oil is oil. In fact Bush probably relishes the idea that someone thinks that way about him...OPENLY that is.
Anyway, at least Hugo made an effort to help and there were some very grateful people this winter. And no you aren't the only one who thinks the way you do. Underneath all the haughtiness and "oh he's so terrible" and "oh, ... he called the president the devil l!! oh my!! " well. If that is the way he feels, that is the way he feels. For that matter many here in the United States feel the same way and are just afraid to admit it.
Behind closed doors Bush is calling Chavez every name in the book. Chavez has a right to run his country as he sees fit.
After all, Bush certainly runs THIS country as HE sees fit.
Ah Mr. Bush: I don't see "two more years"
What I do see is: "Three 6-month terms, two weeks, and counting."

Hugo Chavez a good guy? Hmmm.....he is a politician right? With that being said...politicians ALL LIE!!! That is something we can all agree on, now we know for a fact that what comes out of a politicians mouth is that less than half is true and less than half the promises will be kept. I think both Bush and Chavez don't really care about anyone but themselves. They just want the POWER AND THE MONEY!! I think they are both bad people, they just have different evil ways.

When has Bush ever called Chavez an evil doer ??
Post a link for that.
Chavez hates the Bush family, because Bush Sr. refused to acknowledge Chavez as President of Venezuela ,
After Colonel Chavez tried to illegally overthrow the Democratically elected government of Venezuela in 1992 and Chavez ended up in prison for treason.

No, you're not the only one. But he is still a politician, and as much as I love to hear Chavo **** talk Bush and implement Socialist programs to help his people, I'm wary. Mostly because Many of the communist styled presidents have historically been just as evil and repressive as Bush, if not more; and being a Libertarian Socialist myself, I'm wary of anything that Implies total government control or that is inspired by Russian or Maoist communism. I'm ecstatic to see South America Finally Opening their eyes empowering the people and moving Left. There's still a lot more to be done, but a revolution is in the works.

There is a lot of misinformation about Chavez in the mainstream media. much of it push by the administration. WE tried to overthrow him ,03 I think it was but millions of people marched in the streets and the CIA backed military junta refused to shoot poor Venezuelans. So he was back in power by vastly popular margins. 75% voted for him in a country with high turn out not like here with 45% voting. he is also our third largest supplier of oil.

I don't dislike Chavez. He kind of reminds me of someone I used to work with who was a union member and always was fighting for workers rights. Chavez seems to be doing the same thing for his people. I Can't blame him for that nor even disagree with his comments about Bush.

Unfortunately a significant number of liberals out there are exactly like you. They would gladly turn this country over to a dictator that promised them cheap gas.
Freedom costs and you haven't paid for your share. But don't worry, I picked up your tab.
Retired Military, 22 years active, Vietnam Vet. And maybe an idiot for protecting you.

You are so misinformed. Is that by choice?
I don't buy gas sold by Citgo. I don't buy imported gas at all.
Chavez is selling people like yourself a bill of goods by giving oil away and putting Bush down. I admire the town in Alaska who told him to keep it.
Chavez is another oppressor and his country will fail, as does every socialist country. By they way, people are leaving the country as quickly as they can before he closes the gate.

Sure, you gotta love a guy who gets himself elected and then outlaws all future elections.
He is just swell! Why couldn't we have a dictator like him? Hey, maybe you can get him to let you immigrate to Venezuela, I am sure it will soon be heaven on earth.
That is, unless you dare speak out against him in any way. But I wouldn't worry about that if I were you.
Ummm, wait a minute. You don't suppose he was fooling you, do you?

I only get gas at Citgo because it is the only gas that does not come from a country that the 911 hijackers came from. The reason Bush hates Chavez is because he uses oil revenue to cut poverty in half and if that idea caught on with Americans is would be disasters to profits.
