I'm a guy wanting to experiment with makeup a little... looking for a bit of an androgynous look.?

Any tips of what to use and what to do?

Keep it clean quality makeup, avoid anything cakey, for the same reasons that you would not like it on others.

I would suggest 4VOO made for men.
They make a blotting powder for shine reduction that will give you that smooth look. Avoid foundation, as it has a tendency to drain all color and cake heavily on most people.

A little eyeliner for the upper eyelid to make your eyes pop and a slightly ruggeder look. be very careful when applying it, and apply it to the inside ridge (just under the lashes) for that intense look.

and for the peak, your mouth, try using a lip conditioner before you go to bed, it will plump your lips and give them that kiss me desirability. Then I suggest a gloss for your lips, it will just make the whole look incredible. Avoid colors unless you are trying to really advertise your makeup use, besides on most men they look trashy. I think only Eddie Izzard can pull of red anyway.
Glossy or Gloss with a pinkish tint works well on men looking for that androgynous look.

Again, I am recommending 4VOO because it is meant for men. Go with quality makeups not the cheap stuff, it makes a huge difference.

To match your skin tone, look at the skin on the back of your hand. the soft skin below your first finger and your thumb, not the webbing, but the skin closer to where the bones connect. That is also a good place to check on allergies, as is the skin below your ear. Always check for allergies before applying any makeup, you don't want to end up a giant red rash!

Last, if you want to go with a little eyeshadow, I suggest starting with a smoky charcoal color. The lead singer of Green Day wears a smoky charcoal (lighter gray) and it is very appealing. He also wears heavy eyeliner on the lower lid. Watch out for doing to much or your eyes will look a little crazy instead of sultry. (like Green Day's drummer!).

Have fun and don't forget to wash your face thoroughly when you are done. Use soap and perhaps a cleanser like Noxima cold cream, which will keep your face clean and soft without those harsh chemicals that can make your face break out or worse.

Well it depends on what kind of make up you plan to use. I would say start just with some eyeliner and you can try some lipstick later if you want. Stay away from blush though, it's just too much unless you plan to dress up like a girl. If you're going to use foundation or concealer look for a concealer slightly lighter then you skin and a foundattion that matches exactly. Hold the bottle up to your cheek at the store to check. You may want to ask a female friend who knows about makeup to help you pick and apply it.
