I just opened a new salon a few days ago. I was told that the buildings' boiler was equiped to handle our demand. Not so. I'm going to have to install my own water heater. It's a tiny 3 chair salon with only two shampoo sinks. The space is very small, 400 sqft, so I don't have a lot of room for a great big tank.

Would a point of use heater be a good alternative? And how much can I expect to spend? What are the differences between them? What should I look for when I'm shopping around?

If it's only been a couple of days, I would call the landlord. At least give them a chance to try and fix the problem before you spend any more of your money.

If you don't use gallons of water you could put a small electric water heater under the sinks. I have seen it used in mobile homes where the hot water heater is so far from the kitchen sink the water cools off. the undersink water heaters are fairly cheap and easy to install.
