what if a will is found, but most of what's mentioned in it was no longer owned by the writer of the will at the time of death? And what should the one who was following the instructions of paying the decedents debts, do? should we stop, or continue until the debts are paid off.

Unless the will is voided by another will, there is no expiration date on them. If there are wishes that cant be carried out for legitimate reasons they may be ignored. Debt payment should be referred to an attorney, some must be paid, others expire with the death.
