ONLY DO SO WITH A PERSON WHO IS QUALIFIED TO TEACH, BUT THERE IS A WAY THEY TEACH IN CLASSES...YOU KEEP EYE CONTACT, COUNT TO THREE, ON THE COUNT OF THREE BLOW IN HER FACE AND IT SHOULD TAKE HER BREATH AWAY, BASICALLY SHE WILL HOLD HER BREATH, THEN DUNK VERY QUICKLY AND PULL HER UP. DO NOT LEAVE HER UNDER WATER FOR MORE THAN LITERALLY JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS. KEEP TRYING THIS WITH LONG BREAKS IN BETWEEN DUNKING AND DON'T DO IT TOO MANY TIMES. MAYBE JUST LIKE 3-4 TIMES. DON'T FORGET TO C0UNT OUT LOUD SO YOUR BABY WILL HEAR AND GET TO KNOW THE ROUTINE THAT YOU WILL DUNK HER ON THE # 3.

Why would you be trying to push an 8 month old baby's head under water? Are you trying to teach the baby to swim, are you bathing the baby, or are you trying to kill the kid? 8 months is to soon to teach swimming. Bathing does not require submerging the baby's head in water. Killers go to prison and then HELL!

Why are you making her put her head under water? Is it for swimming lessons? If so, forcing her is not a good idea, but you can blow in her face right before dunking her under to keep her from breathing in the water. If you're talking about in the bath, there is no reason for her to put her head under the water, just use a cup of water and pour it on her head while using your hand to keep it from running in her face.

Why would you want her to put her head under the water? Of course she can't do it, she doesn't understand that she can't breathe under the water and she's too young to understand holding her breath! My 2 1/2 year old just barely learned how to do this and she's a natural fish in the water. Keep your daughter's face out of the water until she is old enough to learn how to hold her breath before you drown the poor child.

Do you mean that you are taking your baby swimming? If so, ask the instructor or someone who teaches swimming to babies.

If you are bathing your baby at home, then I wouldn't be putting her head underwater at all.

I'm not sure why you would try to push the head of an 8 month old under water, she will choke. She might drown. Be careful.

Why are you trying to put your baby's head under water? Is it to rinse out the shampoo? If it is, then just save and wash one of those big cups from Taco Bell and blow in your baby's face when you pour the water over her head, that way she hold her breath.

Your kidding I hope!!...If you are trying to rinse your daughter's hair in the tub,you can use a cup and pour the water slowly over her head with your other hand tilting her head back to try and keep the water out of her eyes...Do not drown her..

I don't get it why would you want your 8 month olds head underwater? If your trying to teach her to swim or something you should go to classes where you will have a teacher there assisting you in the proper way to teach her. Otherwise your gonna drown her.

Please stop trying to force your baby under water she is much to young for swimming and you have no need to put her under for washing hair (use the cup method). All you are doing is traumatizing your little one and instilling a lifelong fear of drowning and that she cannot trust you to not harm her.

a speedy dunk won't do her any injury. i all started taking and dunking my son at 3 months previous. he's by no ability been bothered via it and at 3 years previous has no concern of the water and is discovering to swim.
