I'm in CA & want to file unemployment. I worked at BJs for a yr then left to go to Costco but go laid off.

Question

I was laif off from Costco after 2 months (this was in January). I haven't been able to find work.
Can I file unemployment and will they pay me from Jan or from when I file the claim? thanks

You should be able to file for unemployment but don't be surprised if the salary they use as the basis for your claim is the BJ's salary.

I would expect that you will only be paid from the date you put in your claim (that is the way it is in my state) but you should check California's website.
