Silly girl noone asked you your opinion on abortions. She asked if you are awake and what does it feel like.
Anyway.....
You can have sedation or you can have a local anesthetic. if you are sedated you don't feel a thing. If you just have the local you may experience some mild cramping. afterwards depending on the gestation of the fetus you may have no pain at all to moderate pain. you should not have severe cramping or bleeding. If you are considering this procedure contact your local abortion provider and they will explain the whole process to you. Have a great day!

You will be sedated for a vaccuum aspiration...and even if you're technically awake, you won't feel anything at the time. A medical abortion, the woman would be awake for. It would be like a long, heavy period with cramps. I'm not going to criticise you (although some people on here probably will) because even though I don't believe in abortion I don't know your circumstances and who knows, maybe you're just curious. You could check out abortion.com...it has lots of very helpful information on what the woman should expect and what she goes through. You could google search silent scream for an ultrasound of what the fetus/embryo goes through. Both are factual.

Sad that someone would even want to end a heartbeat.
But here is your answer.
For most women, it feels like a bad menstrual period with strong cramps, diarrhea and upset stomach. Acetaminophen (one brand name: Tylenol) or ibuprofen (one brand name: Motrin) can help the cramps. These symptoms are normal. However, the doctor will want to know if any of these occur:
Bleeding through more than 2 sanitary pads in an hour
Fever above 100 degrees for more than 4 hours
Pain even after taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen

depends on how far along you are and what you can afford. local anesthetic is cheaper then being put to sleep. They would give you a shot in your cervix to numb the whole area so you don't feel anything.
If your far along they would put you to sleep so your knocked out. If your in the begining of your pregnancy 5-10 weeks they would usually suggest local anesthetic since the procedure only takes a couple minutes
If your getting it done dont worry about the physical part of it, theres a huge mental part that never heals after the abortion that they dont tell you about.

OMG! I just saw the silent scream video and I felt sick! The baby was moving away from the vacuum and I felt so sad for the baby. It was obvious it was in distress and I can't believe that woman get abortions! It's goes against our mother instincts. We are supposed to protect our children and not to kill them. I think it's so wrong that many women use abortions as birth control. Birth control is birth control pills, condoms, the IUD, the depo shot and not by killing your baby. I guess it's easy for a woman to do so, because you don't see the baby and people tell you that it's not human. However, when I saw that baby moving away then I felt so hurt that people do this. It's so wrong.

Depends on what type you are getting. For a surgical abortion (where the baby is killed and sucked out in pieces with vacuum extraction) they will put you under but many women feel pain afterwards.
Chemical abortions, where they kill the baby with hormone pills, are not done under anesthesia. The mother takes the pills, kills her baby and then is supposed to go back for them to check that the abortion was successful and the bleeding is controlled.
I don't know what your position is on this - maybe you are just wondering about abortion which is sadly so common. I believe abortion is gruesome and cruel and cries out to God for vengeance.

if ur not gonna have one why do u care?
for those truly interested....
i think it depends on how far along u are...
you can either have a local anesthetic (they just numb the area they will be working in, u are still awake
or if you are further along they put u down because it will hurt more and they have more stuff to do in there.
not very scientific, but hey, ur not a doctor so who cares.
