LA is a desert, so there aren't to many rivers around. I suggest you go to Manhattan Beach or Redondo Beach and fish off the pier.

Well, there is something referred to as the "Los Angeles River", but, in reality, it is just a long concrete ditch that fills with runoff water when it rains! (so I don't think you'll find any fish there--sorry).
