thank you for all of the answers. I am 30 years old, A highschool drop out. I do wish I hadent had to drop out, I didn't want to then, but not everyone has a nice worm loveing home that makes them able to make a choice like that. Had I no choice. Unless you think travelling 50 miles by foot to and from a school that refused to let me check out and enroll in a closer school I could walk to is something that could be done. I have a wonderful life and plan to go to collage as soon as my youngest turns 5. I have a stable life and have been married for 10 years. But when I was 16, I had to run away from the sexual, physical, and mental abuse that an entire small town turned their back on. A 16 year old child that has gone through that does not know about all of the avenues that he or she can take. Especially if NO ONE tells then. They don't even know to ask. Never assume anyone has the same nice home to decide from that you do!

No.. first off, by saying All, you are generalizing, and that's not a good thing to do.. second, it's not a smart thing to do, ie, drop out, but, that doesn't make them unintelligent.. third, there are various reasons for dropping out of high school, and some of them are valid, while others, of course, are not..
fourth, even though a person drops out does not mean that they might never go back again..
I dropped out in the 11th grade, because I thought I had insurmountable problems, but, they weren't, and, after my first tour in the navy, I went back and got my diploma, and then got a college degree, after an additional 14 years in the navy, soooo, not unintelligent, but, not smart, either.. smiles..
good luck and God Bless

Pretty much because I'm in high school and it's not that hard...there's no reason to drop out. What else would someone do with their life at say 16 or 17? Might as well get a diploma so you can go to college and get a job and get a LIFE.
And whether or not a person is intelligent or not, the very decision to drop out is a very unintelligent one, so dropping out itself qualifies someone to be unintelligent.

No, not all. some people just don't fit the system for whatever reason. They may have undiagnosed learning disabilities or have learning styles that conflict wtih the visual oriented, read and regurgitate style taught in most public schools. Also, special circumstances may exist: conscripted during Vietnam, or joining the military, or needing to get a job to support self or family.

No, some may drop out because of all the stress and living situations at home. School may not be for them, but that doesn't mean they are not smart. Some people freak out on test and such. My brother for instance, he dropped out early, but he can take apart a car to nothing and put it back together with no problem. He didn't go to school for this.. he was born with the knowledge I'm guessing? So no I do not believe all drop outs are unintelligent.

No because sometimes there are family or other stress issues. Its not because they are unintelligent, its because of many other things. I would try a search for something like "causes of high school drop outs" in search engine to find a whole list of what actually makes people drop out.

There are lots of reasons someone might drop out of high school, but I don't believe that a lack of intelligence is the primary reason. Kids can be unhappy, unmotivated, need to work to help the family, hate school because they have no friends, embarrassed about their clothes/not fitting in, no parental support, health issues, etc. etc. etc.

it depends on what they did after they dropped out. If they got a job, then realized it wasn't right leaving school, good for them. If they dropped out, ended up getting a job at Mcdonalds and not wondering what could have been but don't do anything about it, they need to realize that there is more to life than sitting around thinking that everyone should feel sorry for you.

No. I've know several who dropped out because they were too smart. They got their GED, went to college early and were starting a career while most of their friends were still trying to choose a major. I have know a few who just couldn't deal with the routine and monotony of high school. And then, I have to admit, I've know a few who were just too stupid to stay in school but they're paying the price for it now.

No, I don't. I am the only one of my siblings to graduate high school. I think my siblings are very intelligent. My sister got her GED and is the manager of a campground. My one brother got his GED and works for P&G, he just bought his first house and is a computer genius. He just built his own arcade machine. My other brother never did get his GED and he works for a big contracting company giving estimates. A lot of different companies were fighting to get him. I think that if you put you're mind to it you can do anything. However, a lot of places won't consider hiring you without at least a GED.

No, some kids are so intellegent they want out of school so they can start doing something to keep them busier. They get bored in school. This happened in town a young boy kept telling his parents school was boring, no matter what the school did it was not enough for him so when he was sixteen he quit school and went to work and is do ing well now.
