What do you think about abortion? How has this affected you? Why do you think abortion is necessary? Why is it important that the government doesn't make a law to cease abortion?

Thanks.

However you look at it it's still murder. It all sounds good, "the right to choose", and all... until you find out that your parents had considered it. That's a humbling little piece of info isn't it.

I wouldn't have an abortion, and I don't believe abortions should be used as birth control just because the mother "is not ready" or didn't use protection or doesn't want to be inconvenienced by nine months of growth that will prove that she's been (shock! gasp!) having sex. As an 18 year old who got pregnant while using birth control properly, I feel I can safely say that I DO know how it feels to be pregnant, scared, and unprepared. I feel that I made my choice when I chose to have sex with a birth control method that plainly stated it was 99% effective. No one is immune to being part of that other 1%, and that risk should be taken into consideration before any man or woman has sex. While these women have the right not to raise this child or pay for it in any way (by opting for adotion), I do not believe abortion is the answer in these situations. Some people do. That's why it's a choice, this is my choice, but as long as it's legal I can't criticize someone else for their choice because I don't know their circumstances.

But I understand there are circumstances in which abortion is morally and medically necessary.

I think if the goverment did make a law against abortion, it would just put more restictions on it and not actually outlaw it altogether. There are extenuating circumstances, as in when the mother's life is in danger or it is known that the child cannot live outside the womb, and in that case it would be a medical procedure and not a form of birth control. I don't think the government can and should take that particular right to medical treatment away.

I personally don't condone abortion. I work at a insurance hospital, and so many young women use abortion as a form of birth control. I'm serious! I've seen the same patients come in 4 times a year for abortions. Geeze, get on birth control. If you don't want babies then either close up shop or get something to prevent it in the first place. That's a life that is being killed. If you get pregnant, then there are many, many families looking for a baby of their own, who can't have babies. That child with be loved. I still believe this even for women who are raped, molested or whatever. I know there are cases where there are children who are molested/raped. Who wants children having children. Is having that baby any worst than what's already happened to them? Maybe this is one way to go after the molestor. I know I don't have all the right answers. This is such a heavy subject. I guess it just comes down to that a person must do what's right from them. This is just my opionion and what I would advise my daughter.

I don't think many people are 'pro-abortion', I think it's a difficult choice that no one is excited about making. However it is also important for a woman to have her privacy and there are a lot of women who for various reasons feel they are left with no option.

I think the government should focus on making abortions occur less often. The morning after pill and contraception should be available to all girls and young men and women should be educated about safer sex practices.

We can't live in a country where 14 year old girls dress like 27 year old escorts and expect abstinence to be realistic for everyone, especially with couples getting married much later than ever before.

It is not impossible to imagine a time when abortions are a rare occurence if we equip women with the right tools to protect themselves.

I have been reading some of the answers I have been through an abortion because i knew that i was unable to bring the child up in a happy and healthy environment I think abortion is the right of the mother and also no one has mentioned the right of that unborn child as an adult you have to make the best choice for the child that has no voice sometimes people get so hung up on calling it murder i see it as saving a child from a bad life and there for it would be a responsible decision to make and the best one for the unborn child .

I am pro choice all day every day. I had an abortion when I was 22. Best choice I ever made. It has to stay legal simply because if it doesn't women will resort to how it was in the past using coat hangers and other things that can kill them as well. When you think bout abortion read medical journals not pro life or pro choice web sites or pamphlets. They both tend to weight their side and not the honest truth. I have never regret ed nor ever been depressed or any of the things pro lifers will push on you. But it isn't pretty nor is it something I would ever do again. In the end it is the women's choice. Every situation is diff every time. Until you are in it you have no idea what it might feel like to have to choose. Remember that when you are getting advice from people who have never been in that arena!!!

abortion is a very serious private option which no woman should be pressured into one way or the other. no-one has the right to say what is wrong or right when they do not know the circumstances.the goverment cannot be allowed to make this law. we will be going back to the victorian times if this happens.women going to crooked doctors, becoming infected, infertile among other things.men cant have babies so they have no idea the emotion attached to birth.i've never had an abortion but have known two women who have. it was not taken lightly by either of them .abortion has to be one of the toughest decisions a woman has to live with.i agree there are women who have abortions simply because they do not want children and had an " accident ".but in the same breath no-one should be forced to carry a child they do not want. there is no black and white answer to this unfortunately.abortion, for the majority of women who opt for this,is a last resort. more support needs to be on hand instead of inflicting prejudice and taking the moral high ground just because its not what you'd do.(not you personally)....if women are forced to go down back alleys for illegal abortions there will be more serious issues to answer to then.we as a nation are becoming more critical of each other and less tolerant... no wonder global warming such a problem..

I wish that the bigger picture was known so many women die from abortions a year that are not reported, several others have gotten aids, and serious infections, the other side effect of having several is they have to take your whole uterus so you can never have babies.
Its taught to teens that this can solve all their problems and make life so much better when in fact it can end it or ruin it forever. to many things about abortion have not been reported because the girls refuse to tell their parents and doctors that they've had one.
all the facts need to be present to make a informed decision.

Our government has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO with abortion. First, many of those who make legal decisions are men. NONE have ever been pregnant. None have ever undergone abortion. Abortion is a decision that should be made by a woman. Period. I abhor the idea of abortion. But each of us is different. We think differently about different issues. But I resent that a MAN has any say regarding abortion.
It is an issue that should be thoroughly decided by women,

I think it is not necessary unless the mother is not fit to take care of a child. there are plenty of other options and pregnant women who are considering abortion should have to have a medical reason (a doctors note) to get the procedure done.

About abortion. I have very strong feelings over this. I dont think that it's right and it's stupid that they still have it around. If you don't want to get pregnant they why even have sex??
If you want to have sex, then use protection. Your really killing a human being. Your parents didn't do that to you, so why are you going to do that to your child. Your here why can't your child be. That's all i have to say about abortion.
