No, it is not correct. Saying is always not correct. Generally socks are made of cotton mix with polyester only. Pure cotton do not have the capity to keep as tight as required.

Whether made by machines or by hand, socks can surely be 100 % Cotton!
Sometimes the label states " 30% Nylon, 60% Cotton", or "30% Cotton, 60% acrylic", etc.
But if they say "100% cotton", trust it.
You will be a satisfied Customer!

Who knows. I notice that a lot on kid's underwear and whatnot and wonder the same thing. You'd have to think that there should be some truth in labeling, but I don't know if there are any sock and underwear police out there. The 100 percent cotton socks may be comfy, but I don't know how well they would last if you run around in stocking feet. Seems like everything needs a little synthetic in them to make them wear better--maybe it's just me.

if the label say 100% cotton then they must be 100% cotton other wise they are going against the trade description act and can be sued and thee good taken of the market.

the simple test is if they have an elastic quality then they are not......a small percentage of synth material is added to give that effect..
Moreover if the same company has many differemt mixes then maybe
