why should any one who uses the word take offense at it when some one of another cultural back ground says it. I think that these people are malcontents and are just looking for something to create a problem. If it where a offensive word then the focus would be to eradicate the word from all mouth,s not just some. After all there is only one race that is the human race. Now i know that the people who think that the word ****** is only for black people to use will retort with some inane line about how it wrong of me to wright this. But if you call your self or your friends by this nasty name then you have no right to complain. I also think it is wrong to judge people by their skin be it black brown red or white. I hope i did not offend anyone but if i did O WELL. I feel uncomfortable when anyone says the word especially black,s. That is hypocrisy.

Yes it bother me more when blacks say it to each other . In fact, it angers me. Not because it refers to a black person, but it is a two sided thing. It's OK for them to say it to each other and out loud as if everyone enjoy that kind of rubbish, but the minute a white person was to call them the ''N'' word they are ready to fight. I don't understand when that word or any other word becomes a word of endearment. Like the "B" word used amongst the women while talking and playing with there friends is ignorant also. When white people refer to each other as trailer trash, it's also embarrassing. Most of all I think this generation have lost respect for life and themselves so you can forget about them having respect for each other.

The word is offensive. It was developed from a perfectly inoffensive word; *****. About 1442, the Portuguese began to enslave Africans in Portugal. The term *****, literally meaning "black", was used by the Spanish and Portuguese to refer to dark-skinned people. The word has had a similar history in languages such as Italian. Neger in Dutch and German had the same meaning. In the Netherlands, where there are quite a lot of black people, neger is generally not considered a slur.
Because of the connection to slavery in this country, the word is not only offensive to blacks, it is shameful to whites. It is no different than displaying the swastika in terms of the connotations. (The swastika is an ancient Vedic symbol, and is not offensive in India. Hitler changed the direction of the points on the Vedic symbol.) But people who come here from India know not to display the swastika. As Americans, we should know better than to use the "N" word.

In my high school people said it all the time. Black to White, Asian to White, White to Black, White to White, Black to Black and every other combination possible. If u say th "N word" in NYC u get a $100 fine and I still hear people saying it all of the time. Some of my friends decided that they aren't going to say it anymore and some still say it. I feel that no one should say it but I can't control what everyone says. When I do hear people say it I just look at them and shake my head along with everyone else.

Yes I get uncomfortable, I don't like the word ever. It is an unintelligent thing to do anywhere. It has such a negative spin on it, why do people think it is OK to use. It just bugs me I like to be positive and I dont think anything positive comes from the use of it.

they should not say it, no one should. and I'm from the south, Mississippi, and NO ONE says that. it is normal that you would feel uncomfortable but i think that if blacks and Latinos say it, it is only opening the gate for everyone to. you should tell your schoolmates that it is not OK to use that word and if they continue you should report them.

I feel uncomfortable when anyone says it no matter what race they are. I've seen Hispanics call each other that and even White people call each other that. I think people who say it just sound so stupid.
