I am attending them in Springfield MA.. Does anyone know what to expect.. one of my friends had to go to them and said she liked them and misses them now

If it is court ordered...they will give you a ticket to give back to the court.....thats all I know from clients that have had to go....

It's a place you are among other alcoholics. Their stories may be different to a point, but they are also similar. I don't think you have to share anything the first time you go. It's on a first name basis only too. I used to attend ala-non meetings. Pretty much the same. Due to you aparently required to go because of a court order, you are probably feeling "forced" to go at this time, however, once you start going, you will be glad you did. The support you get from each other is pretty good. If you don't want to go by yourself the first time, maybe your friend who used to go would be willing to attend one with you? It's worth asking. You are usually sent by the court to AA meetings & have to get a signature I went to AA and hated it you can make friends there but I never did I'm a loner so don't go by what I say

recovering alcoholics meet together to discuss their past experiences of drinking. basically the low points of their lives while drinking and the effects that alcoholism has had on their lives as well as their family members and friends. completely anonymous.
