I just got God of War 2 and my PS2 won't read it! I don't know what the problem is.

hmm no..it is brand new..never been touched before.

Maybe it has scrathes or something. If its scratched too much or even a bit at certain places, the ps2 won't read it. Trust me, I had to lose 150 burnt CDs all because they were scratched by some kid who played them one day, and they were all un-readable. Also, if its burnt, you might not have the right modchip.

I'm having the same problem with my GOD of War 2. The PS2 says the Game DVD is unreadable; strangely enough it says the same for the special features Disk 2, also. The system has never been tampered with (mod chip, etc.), and has never been abused or mishandled (34 yr.old computer technician).
I had the exact same problem when the first GOD of War came out and had to buy a new PS2 (which then stopped working, was sent to Sony; they fixed the problems, but sent it back rattling louder than an old fan and ripe with new problems and then they said tough luck to me).
Luckily this new PS2's on warranty from the store and not Sony, but as a technician who's been loyal to Sony since their first emergence into the video game world, not to mention someone who completely fears Microsoft's entrance into yet another commercial area that they will dominate and then stagnate (if gamers purchase systems and games with the same laziness and lack of conscious/forethought that computer users do)... It sure would be nice to have a choice other than a company who can no longer be trusted and one who could never be trusted to begin with.

the problem is not the game its the ps2.. its either your eye in the ps2 worn out, the top is a little busted, or the memory and proccesing chips are to low on mb's, my freind has this problem on his soul caliber 2 game, so he just got a new game of it and it worked but im not sure thet would work... hjust get a new ps2.

Its either copied and u dont have the right modchip or your PS2 is stuffed

my ps2 has a hard time reading ps games sometimes(ff anthologies/chronicles) I just keep rebooting until it likes it.

clean your lens with a Q-Tip
i had the same problem,took it back twice
